League
Eligibility
Quality, long-standing short
track leagues are encouraged to apply to Short Track ProCup (SPTC)
to become participating leagues. There are currently
eight participating leagues. If a majority of currently
participating league owners vote to approve the applicant league's application, that league will become a participant.
Any established, long-running
league that is either dedicated to short-track or runs a short-track division is eligible to apply to STPC.
To apply to become a participating league contact Mark Royer.
Participating leagues are encourage to host STPC events, but this is not a requirement of league participation. Some leagues cannot host events due to the closed nature of the servers on which they race.
Driver
Eligibility (STPC Licenses)
Each participating league is assigned
seven STPC licenses for the current or upcoming season.
League officials may assign their licenses to drivers in their league by any criteria they choose. Each league is free to establish its own criteria. For
example, one league might stipulate that the top five championship points
earners from last season receive an STPC license. Another might choose the best
5 drivers in attendance. Yet a third could give the nod to the drivers who
caused
the fewest incidents.
Once a league assigns a STPC license to a driver, the driver owns the license for the remainder of the current season. The league may not later rescind it's license.
However, should a league suspend or ban a driver with an STPC license, the
league may also revoke the license. In this case, the license reverts
to the league.
Only STPC licensed drivers may drive in STPC
events. If a driver wishes to participate in STPC, he must
first join a participating league and meet their criteria to receive an STPC license.
At the end of a season, STPC licenses expire;
they are not automatically renewed. Expired licenses revert back to
ownership of the participating leagues for assignment to drivers for the ensuing STPC season.
This presents participating leagues an opportunity to give a benefit to drivers who exhibit attributes league officials wish to promote. STPC only asks that licenses be assigned to drivers that are courteous and professional and who know how to race short tracks, know when to
be aggressive and know when to back off. In other words, drivers we all enjoy
racing hard against.
Revoking and Suspending A Driver
License
While we all hope this never happens, we must plan for the possibility.
Any licensed STPC driver may call for a vote to suspend another driver's license for a number of events or revoke it for the remainder of the season. The driver who called for the vote must clearly articulate the grounds for his claim in the STPC forums. When this happens, a discussion followed by a vote will be held in the forums. If a majority of licensed STPC drivers vote affirmative, then the license is suspended or revoked, as appropriate.
When a license is revoked, ownership of the license reverts to the driver's league and the league may assign it to another driver for the remainder of the season.
Terminating A Driver
License
A driver may voluntarily terminate his STPC license at any time. When this occurs, ownership of the license reverts to driver's league and the league may assign it to another driver for the remainder of the season.
